NFT provides two playwriting workshops: one tailored for novices and the other catering to experienced playwrights. Both workshops are instructed by our esteemed faculty of award-winning playwrights. If you have any doubts about which workshop aligns best with your needs and level of experience, we recommend consulting with Ajene Washington prior to enrolling.

In the beginner's workshop, students are introduced to the fundamentals of play construction, emphasizing character development and narrative structure, with a focus on the play's progression from its inception through crucial turning points to its resolution.

For seasoned writers, the advanced workshop offers an immersive exploration of playwriting, ultimately resulting in the creation of a full-length work by the end of the semester.

Classes are typically held at NFT offices, with the possibility of select classes being conducted via Zoom. The yearly tuition fee for two semesters is $375, with the choice to pay upfront or divide the payment into three installments of $125 each.
