Upper Depths

Upper Depths cast with director Bob Kalfin in foreground and playwright David Rapperport just behind him

From Mel Gussow’s New York Times Review

IN his malevolent new comedy, ”The Upper Depths,” David Steven Rappoport pinions the American family – and the wrestling image is intentional. One of the family’s two teen-age daughters, the swaggering Rikke Borge, is a coed wrestling champion. Whenever her mother (Marilyn Chris) dares to criticize – or to ignore – her, she throws the older woman to the floor. After a while, when the mother sees her Amazonian daughter approaching, she runs for cover. In this self-destructive household, there is no hiding place.
