Selma is a musical which follows Dr. Martin Luther King from the Alabama bus boycott through his death. It premiered in Ann Arbor, Michigan in September, 1976. Tommy Butler starred as Dr. King, and wrote the book, music, and lyrics. The NFT production also starred the playwright, and appears to be the first New York production.
